This agreement is part of the “HyGreen Provence” project launched in 2017, which aims to develop and validate the technical and economic conditions for the production of 1,300 GWh of solar electricity and the production of hydrogen by electrolysis of water. on an industrial scale, says Engie in a statement.
This project has several phases with first achievements in late 2021 and a final phase envisaged in 2027, according to a group statement. Tens of thousands of tons of renewable hydrogen per year could be produced eventually.
This hydrogen will serve mobility, energy and industrial uses, both locally and regionally.
